Newly Released Video Shows Police Shootout With Suspect In Crowded Supermarket

A newly released video shows police engaging a suspect in a shootout at a crowded supermarket in New Mexico.

Frightened shoppers watched from just meters away as the suspect and police exchanged gunfire at Albuquerque’s El Mesquite market on June 24. according to To KRQE news.

The suspect, Mark Peter, 41, was reportedly found unconscious in his car by an Autozone employee prior to the shooting. Police arrived at a shop in the middle of the El Mesquite market on the 98th.th On the street around 3:30 p.m. after receiving a worrying phone call from an employee about the unresponsive man.

Peter had multiple felony warrants issued for his arrest, which police discovered after examining his car plates. One of the warrants was for drug trafficking after being discovered by the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Deputy in April. (Related article: Security guard dead, 1 injured in hospital shooting)

Peter said he drove off as soon as he woke up, prompting police to remove the tires from his car. The suspect was stopped in front of a street near Church’s Chicken before entering the El Mesquite market.

“We were given a total of over 14 minutes of escort before the car drove away from the officers,” Gen. Kyle Hartsock said at a press conference on Wednesday.

Officers tried to tap Peter, who then opened fire. At least seven customers were reportedly endangered in a chaos at the cash register, with shootings erupting. The police counterattacked.

Peter reportedly fired 13 shots. Police reportedly responded with 45 shots.

Two employees were killed in the crossfire along with the suspect. No other injuries were reported.
