News Flash • Coconino County Downgrading to Stage 1 Fire Res

After consulting with local partner agencies, Coconino County Emergency Management (CCEM) and the County Administrator's Office plan to lower the County's fire restrictions to Stage 1 on Friday, June 28, 2024 at 8:00 AM.

The following activities are prohibited at all times during Stage 1 fire restrictions unless exempted by a county wildfire prevention ordinance:

  1. Ignite, start, maintain, or use any fire, including fires fueled by wood, charcoal, briquettes, coal, or other combustible materials.
  2. Smoking outdoors.
  3. Use of explosive targets, tracers and incendiary rounds.

Stage 1 exemptions include fires fueled by combustible materials such as wood, wood pellet smokers, charcoal, briquettes and coal on developed property, as defined in the Wildfire Prevention Ordinance.

With Independence Day approaching, we urge the public to always use extreme caution when engaging in recreational activities on public or private property, regardless of restrictions. Violations can result in fines and/or imprisonment.
