Nicki Minaj recently reached out to Florida Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna on X, after reacting to comments made by DJ Mackwop, an associate of singer SZA. There had been some back-and-forth between Minaj and SZA, triggered by Mackwop’s remarks, which led Minaj to address him by saying he should “relax and calm down before being mixed up.” She implied that this statement felt like a direct threat, particularly in light of Tory Lanez’s recent imprisonment.
In a tweet, Minaj stated, “@ReplunaThis guy publicly threatened me. I have notified the FBI & CIA. I want this thug to be locked in. I’m ready to talk about everything these people have done to me.”
Minaj upped the stakes by tagging both the CIA and FBI in her posts, insisting that they look into Mackwop’s comments as potential public threats. She suggested that the “blender” comment could serve as an admission of involvement in a previous crime.
She questioned whether Mackwop’s remarks were alluding to a stabbing of Tory Lanez, which some speculate might have been a set-up. Minaj wrote, “@FBI I’m ready to talk about everything I know. @Ciadirector These thugs have gone too far. They’ve started public threats because they think they are above the law.”
In response, Luna tweeted, “Text me on my phone, and I’ll immediately forward this to law enforcement. The threat of violence and assassination should be taken very seriously.”
The following day, Luna updated her followers, saying she had spoken directly with Minaj and assured them that she was committed to ensuring her safety. “The threat of violence and assassination is taken seriously,” she emphasized. She also expressed concern over potential corruption in the music industry, stating, “Artists should be respected and not live in fear of their managers and labels.”
Luna’s office has yet to respond to requests for comments, and this situation is ongoing, with more updates likely to follow.
