GRAHAM COUNTY – The Graham County Superintendent of Schools is pleased to inform registered voters in Graham County that candidate packets for School Board are available. Candidate packets may be picked up at the Graham County Superintendent of Schools Office, located at 921 Thatcher Boulevard in Safford, Arizona. Office hours are Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Candidates must submit a Statement of Interest before collecting signatures, which is included in the candidate packet.
Candidates may submit nonpartisan nomination papers beginning June 10, 2024. The deadline to submit nomination papers is July 8, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. for the November 5, 2024 general election. All school district board nomination papers must be filed with the Graham County Superintendent's Office. other special area Nomination packages for the Graham County Community (Eastern Arizona College) District Governing Board, fire district, hospital district and others are available at the Graham County Board of Supervisors office, also located at 921 W. Thatcher Blvd. in Safford.
The following seats will expire on December 31, 2024:
All terms are four years unless otherwise stated.
Bonita School District 16: 1 seat
Fort Thomas Unified School District 7: 3 seats
Gila Institute of Technology No. 2 (GIFT): Two Graham County seats – Safford, Thatcher
Klondike School District 9: 2 seats
Pima Unified School District 6: 3 seats
Safford Unified School District 1: 3 seats
Solomon School District 5: 2 seats
Thatcher Unified School District 4: 3 seats (4-year), 1 seat (2-year)*
*There is a two-year seat open in Thatcher Unified School District No. 4 due to a recent vacancy. The seat will appear on the ballot for the Nov. 5, 2024 general election, with the remainder of the term running from January 2025 to December 2026.
The deadline to register to vote for the general election is October 7, 2024. The general election will be on November 5, 2024.
