NY Times Publishes JD Vance’s Old Emails Criticizing Trump As ‘Morally Reprehensible’

On Saturday, The New York Times published a series of old emails in which Republican Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio described the former president as “morally reprehensible.”

The New York Times Published Correspondence between Vance and his transgender friends, including Vance's criticism of law enforcement and former President Donald Trump, has revealed that their frequent text and email correspondence stopped after they clashed over Vance's support for banning medical procedures related to sex-reassignment surgery for minors, The New York Times reported.

Emails spanning 2014 and 2017 highlight Vance's initial opposition. Trump Vance sexually assaulted a black man during the 2016 election. These views stand in stark contrast to his current position as President Trump's running mate. First reported by The New York Times, in an email dated October 23, 2014, Vance wrote, “I hate the police. After all the bad experiences I've had over the last few years, I can't imagine what black people have to go through.” (Related: Fact Check: Does This Video Show JD Vance Saying Homophobic Slang?)

The Journal also published a Dec. 9, 2015 email in which Vance responded to Nelson's complaint that Trump's comments were making his Muslim friends feel uneasy: “Obviously I'm upset by what Trump has said and I worry, above all, about whether Muslims feel welcome in their own country. But I also think people have always believed crazy things… and there have always been demagogues who try to exploit people who believe crazy things,” Vance wrote.

The NYT published another screenshot of Vance apologizing to Nelson for mistakenly describing a classmate of Nelson's as a lesbian in his bestselling book “Hillbilly Elegy.” Vance explained, “I hope you understand that this description was born out of the ignorance I felt when I first began writing many years ago. I hope that doesn't take any offense, and I'm sorry if it does!”

The article also includes another anti-Trump email from Vance in 2016, in which Vance wrote, “The more white people want to vote for Trump, the more Black people will suffer. I truly believe that.” Later that year, Vance wrote to Nelson, “He's just a bad man. He's morally reprehensible.”

Vance's spokesperson Said Fox News Digital:[i]It is unfortunate that this individual would leak private conversations between friends from 10 years ago to the New York Times.”

The Daily Caller has reached out to Vance for comment but has not yet heard back.
