Fox News' Harris Faulkner was blocked from speaking on Monday after Democratic voters said they didn't believe President Joe Biden was prioritizing the border.
Mr. Faulkner was interviewing a group of voters, most of them Republicans who were undecided about their support for the presidential candidate.
Jay, a New York Democrat, first praised Biden's “major victories in Congress.”
The only major legislation that passed the House and Senate in the four years before Joe Biden was tax cuts for some Americans, right? As someone who used to work on the Hill, I've seen first-hand what goes into getting a bill passed, and I think the first three years or so of Joe Biden's presidency, The amount of things that have been passed is just amazing. Keep in mind that this is meant to work on specific things and these things won't happen right away. Some of these things take time—”
“Will we ever see a border on his watch?” Faulkner asked. (Related: 'I love you': Undocumented immigrant thanks Biden after entering US)
Watch the moment:
“That's an interesting question. Now, I don't know about the border…”
“I'm just wondering because he might not have four more years left,” Faulkner said.
“He might not,” Jay said. “To be clear, I don't know, or I don't think that's a priority, that-“
“Oh wow!” said a stunned Faulkner. “Okay, is anyone else shocked by this besides me?”
“I don't think you're wrong, by the way,” Faulkner told Jay. “Because that explains a lot, doesn't it?”
Mr. Faulkner then asked the other panelists for their thoughts on Mr. Jay's comments.
One voter, Bonnie, said she was concerned about the influx of illegal drugs, the identity of immigrants and the sustainability of sanctuary cities.
Immediately after taking office, Biden signed an executive order to limit immigration enforcement, but since then, record numbers of illegal immigrants have been flowing through the southern border. In fiscal year 2022, the number of illegal immigrants reached a record high, with more than 2.2 million immigrants encountered.
The Texas Department of Public Safety has taken over a park in Eagle Pass, Texas, as the state tries to curb a rapid influx of migrants. The Biden administration sued the state over the effort.
