ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith criticized outgoing President Joe Biden on Wednesday after he told USA Today it was unclear whether he would have completed another term in office.
The 82-year-old president still believes he could have defeated President-elect Donald Trump in November’s presidential election, even admitting to USA Today interview He said he wasn’t sure if he would be able to serve another four years. Smith, “Stephen A. Smith Show”, the president said, thanking Biden for leaving office on January 20. (Related: Biden slams reporters in bizarre rant about immigration)

“This examines on many levels why President Biden should have put his ass down and dropped out of the race. Look, we can’t just leave him alone here. So, let’s be clear. I mean, you ran for office knowing you probably wouldn’t have another four years, and you didn’t give in,” Smith said. “You didn’t fulfill your promise to be interim president and pass the baton to the younger generation. You didn’t do that. Then you sat there and avoided the primary, and then you went on June 27th and He showed up and seemed lost.”
Mr. Smith said Mr. Biden’s comments suggested that Mr. Biden had realized before his June debate with Mr. Trump that he “probably won’t have another four years” but that he would “run anyway.” He suggested that there was.
“That’s pathetic. That’s inexcusable. Now, to go one step further, it’s also a delusion that you could have defeated Trump. Let me state the obvious, because clearly the American people spoke up. Because if they say something to the contrary. [Vice President] “Kamala Harris, they likely spoke against you because of what you yourself just said,” he continued. “This is the kind of thing that’s going to hurt the Democratic Party for years to come, because if he feels that way and believes he can beat Trump in the runoffs, Even if you had such reservations, the bottom line is that the Democratic Party knew and tried to cover him up. You no longer have any credibility.”
Smith also said he doesn’t particularly trust Republicans, taking aim at President Trump’s comments about acquiring Greenland and wanting to rename the Gulf of Mexico the “Gulf of America.”
“But when I saw those words from Biden, I said, ‘Thank God he’s leaving.’ Oh my goodness. ‘Enough is enough,'” Smith added.
“I also didn’t intend to be president when I was 85, 86. So I talked about passing the baton,” Biden said in an interview. “But I don’t know. Who knows? So far so good. But who knows what I’ll be like when I’m 86?”
