A Pima County Sheriff’s Department sergeant, who was accused of sexually assaulting a colleague during a house party in December, was formally fired from the department on Tuesday.

The agency opened a criminal investigation on December 18, and Garcia took a leave of absence with pay.
Since then, lab reports have been received, adding further evidence to the case.
