Pima County Superior Court wants the public’s input in filling two vacant positions | Arizona News

Tucson, Arizona (KVOA) – The Pima County Superior Court is asking for the public’s help in selecting candidates for the vacant office of Chief Justice.

The two vacancies are due to Governor Hobbes’ elevation of Randy Barnett to a superior court judge and Deborah Platt’s pending retirement.

The court’s selection committee interviewed a total of seven candidates and narrowed it down to five lawyers who were selected for the final interview.


The final five lawyers selected are:

  • Derek Kortunovic
  • Victoria Otto
  • Edina Strum
  • Michael Vampotic
  • Nathan Wade

The court is inviting public comments on the applicant, with a deadline of 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 19.

Written comments may be emailed to the Superior Court’s Human Resources Division at humanresources@sc.pima.gov.

The nominations will be announced next week by Superior Court Chief Judge Jeffrey T. Burgin and Juvenile Court Chief Judge Michael Butler, following interviews with finalists.
