The 71-acre park, with two 5-acre surf lagoons, a water park, surf center and academy, is developed on a vacant lot bounded by Loma and Green Roads, State Route 238 and Garvey Avenue adjacent to the Animal Farm. be.
In documents filed with the city, the developer says SR 238 is the primary connection to the community to the west of the project site, the city of Maricopa, and the Phoenix Metro to the north.
The park’s developer, Erin La Grassa of Mesa-based PHX Surf LLC, applied for a planned area development of 71 acres, rezoning this year to allow for the construction of the project. The city’s Planning Commission recommended approval of the application on Sept. 26, and the Maricopa City Council unanimously approved the rezoning and planned area development on Tuesday.
