Pinal County Sheriff’s son laid to rest with fiancée, daughter

SANTAN VALLEY, Arizona — Pinal County Sheriff Mark Lamb and his family said their final goodbyes to their 22-year-old son, son’s fiancée and daughter at a memorial service Friday.

Lam spoke with the media before the service and shared a message to the driver who hit his son and his son’s family.

“We are not mad and hope the driver’s family listens,” he said. “It was an accident. Our son had a similar experience, but we don’t feel anger or resentment.”

“I couldn’t ask for more than to hear another song with Cooper,” said his best friend Miguel Salas.

One by one, loved ones shared their heartbreak and shared their stories.

“Caroline, I love you forever,” said one family member through tears. “I’m so proud of you.”

Cooper’s mother, Janelle Lam, did a little talking. She talked about the morning he was born and how much he loved hot and spicy food, video games, and his family.

“His greatest loves were Caroline and Elaine,” she said. “Cooper was one of the most caring people and always wanted to comfort people.”

They also shared vivid memories of 11-month-old Elaine. They remembered how she fought, how she loved naps, and the donuts her Grandpa Ram gave her during her 23 days in her NICU. They called her a perfect angel and loved everyone she saw.

“She was really blessed,” Janelle said.

His parents talked about the challenges Cooper faced and the challenges he overcame.

“I hope people remember him as a caring person. I think he had some difficulties and people labeled him as not. It destroyed him.” “Knowing that he had hurt someone and paid for it, he thought about it every day. But he made his life right and helped other people get out of it.” We did what we could to help and we are proud of how he fought.Addiction to fentanyl is not easy and many families struggle with it.Both Cooper and Caroline It’s been a success story of overcoming it and our granddaughter was a gift… from God so they can cross the finish line.”

They said burying a child is one of the hardest things a parent can do and that Cooper, Caroline and Elaine were all taken too soon, but the legacy their families left behind They will forever be remembered by those who knew them.

“We are still in shock at losing them,” said Sheriff Lamb.

“Our two families have united today to honor these children,” Janelle said. “We are relieved to know they are together.”
