Pinal County to host housing-needs meeting in Apache Junction

Meetings with Pinal County officials will be held at Apache Junction, Santan Valley and Florence to gather information on housing and community development needs and priorities over the next five years and solicit potential project ideas.

The rally will be held on Tuesday, August 15, at 4:00 pm at the Apache Junction Multi-Generation Center at 1035 N. Idaho Road. At 6:00 pm, Tuesday, August 15, at the Pinal County Office, N. Schnepf Road 31505, Santan Valley. According to the announcement, on Wednesday, August 16, at 2:00 p.m., the Pinal County 1891 Historical Court at 135 N. Pinal St., Florence, will discuss funding for the Consolidation Plan for 2024-28 and the Annual Action Plan Program for Fiscal Year 2024.

The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development is asking Pinal County to publish an annual action plan outlining the use of HUD funds for a five-year consolidation plan, analysis of barriers to equitable housing, community development block grant programs, HOME investment partnerships and emergency solutions grants, the notice said.

All residents of Pinal County are invited to comment on housing and community development needs, strategies for meeting identified needs, and identifying barriers to those needs. The notice states that public input is an integral part of this planning effort.

Pinal County has issued a Public Participation Plan outlining the disclosure process and has posted it below. pinal.gov/grants.

For planning purposes, the county anticipates approximately $2 million in CDBG funding, $650,000 in HOME funding, and $150,000 in ESG funding each year during the consolidation planning period. Funding may fluctuate during the five-year planning period.
