Tempe, Arizona – An intense police pursuit led Maricopa County Sheriff’s Deputies to multiple locations in the Valley, and three adults, one female and two males, were taken into custody.
The incident began nearby Cerritos Street and Yaqui Street when a sheriff’s deputy noticed a vehicle driving the wrong way down the road at a high rate of speed.
The driver failed to yield during the traffic stop and a pursuit ensued.
As the car entered and exited a Guadalupe street, a backseat passenger pointed a weapon at the deputy and stopped to allow the passenger to exit the vehicle, according to a police report.
The vehicle then continued and stopped again on Carlos Street.
Several MCSO patrol vehicles and Tempe The K-9 unit collided with the car, which started moving again, but was unable to escape.
Two additional passengers exited the vehicle and were taken into custody.
The driver refused to comply, so an MCSO K-9 was deployed to the driver.
All three occupants were detained and the driver was hospitalized.
