President Trump praises Alabama’s GOP leaders for their strong effort in developing U.S. Space Command.

Trump Announces Space Command Headquarters Moving to Huntsville, Alabama

President Donald Trump commended Alabama’s Congressional delegation for their efforts in ensuring that the new Space Command headquarters will be situated in Huntsville.

This announcement came during a session in the Oval Office on Tuesday, attended by Senators Tommy Tuberville and Katie Britt of Alabama, along with Secretary of Defense, Vice President J.D. Vance, and Alabama Senators Mike Rogers, Robert Adderholt, Gary Palmer, Barry Moore, and Dale Strong.

“From my experience, I know the people in Alabama are remarkable,” Trump remarked. “They’re hardworking and take great pride in what they do. I’ve heard they believe they fought harder than anyone else for this. Five states were in the running, but they all seemed to want it more.”

“They weren’t interested in discussing the weather; they just wanted to talk about moving to Huntsville. We’re thrilled to make this happen for them,” he continued.

Back in 2021, the US Air Force designated Redstone Arsenal as its top choice and determined that Huntsville was the optimal mission site. However, President Joe Biden later changed this decision in July 2023, opting instead for a headquarters in Colorado Springs.

This shift prompted Alabama’s legislative delegation to call for an investigation into the selection process.

A report released in March 2023 revealed that Redstone had been rated number one in both the evaluation and selection stages by the Air Force, while Colorado Springs was rated fifth in the final evaluation.

“Thank you very much. Now you won’t bother me about this, right?” Trump quipped to the gathered lawmakers. “I mean, do you promise not to call me about this anymore?”

He also mentioned in a press conference that the Huntsville Space Command will play a significant role in developing the “Golden Dome” missile defense system.
