Proposition 479 winning by wide margin in Maricopa County

“Proposition 479 is not only a win for the people of Maricopa County, but a competitive advantage for Arizona businesses,” Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) President and Chandler Mayor Kevin Hartke said in a statement Wednesday. said.

The project extension is expected to generate $15 billion in revenue for road projects across the Valley, including improvements to Interstate 10 and Interstate 17.

“We are ready to deliver on our promise to voters and deliver a world-class transportation system that will ensure a vibrant economy and great quality of life for everyone in our region for decades to come,” Hartke said. he added.

The transportation tax was first passed in 1985 and then updated in 2004. The deadline was set for 2025.
