Rain floods several roads in Yuma County

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KECY) – Heavy rain has caused some roads in the area to be flooded.

Some roads also had to be closed.

It was raining heavily and some cars were driving through puddles with water hitting their tires.

“Every time it rains, we don't prepare for a storm like this. There's so much water in different areas that it's hard for people in small cars,” said Yuma resident Kevin Good. . .

The City of Yuma has closed Avenue A and 28th Street to traffic due to flooding.

The detour will take people to 4th Street, Avenue B or 8th Street.

Meanwhile, the San Luis Police Department reminded all drivers to be extra careful on the roads, saying there have already been four accidents in the border town since the rains started.

One local resident said drivers needed to be more careful.

“When it's raining, you have to slow down and drive more calmly,” said local resident Juan Carlos.

Be sure to keep both hands on the steering wheel to stay safe in this heavy rain.
