LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — An Oregon man was arrested in Mojave County after 16 grams of methamphetamine was found under a bridge at Fort Mojave, according to the Mojave County Sheriff’s Office.
On Monday, March 13, agents from the Mojave County Sheriff’s Department were moving people from under a bridge on Highway 95 near Aztec Road. One of them was identified as Jared Laverton Rice, 44, of Medford, Oregon.
A record check for Rice showed him an active arrest warrant from 2018 for failing to register as a sex offender, according to his agent.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Rice was recently registered as a homeless sex offender and was staying in the Fort Mojave area.
When Rice was searched, deputies say they found a small vial with white residue on it. .
An agent said a search of Rice’s rucksack found about 16 grams of presumed positive methamphetamine, prescription drugs that weren’t his, and various drug-related paraphernalia.
Rice was arrested and faces two felony counts for possession of dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia and one misdemeanor count for possession of prescription drugs.
