A reporter asked President Joe Biden's brother James if his nephew Hunter smoked crack in the White House as James arrived at the Capitol to testify Wednesday.
The president's younger brother is scheduled to testify as part of the House Republican impeachment inquiry into whether Biden engaged in an influence-peddling scheme with his son Hunter related to overseas transactions. James arrived at the Capitol around 10:30 a.m. in response to a subpoena for a private deposition he received in November.
“Did Hunter smoke in the White House?” a reporter shouted, but there was no response.
The president's brother did not answer any questions from reporters upon his arrival.
Mr. James' deposition comes months after House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer issued subpoenas in September for both Mr. James and Mr. Hunter's personal and business banking records. Ta. In the summer of 2017, CEFC affiliate Northern International Capital transferred $5 million to Hudson West III, a joint venture formed by Hunter and CEFC affiliates, according to bank records released by Comer. Hudson West III then transferred $400,000 to Owasco PC, a company owned by Hunter. Owasco PC then wired his $150,000 to James and Sarah Biden's company, Lion Hall Group. Sarah then deposited the $50,000 she had withdrawn from Lion Hall Group into her and James' personal checking accounts. Finally, Sarah sent Joe Biden a $40,000 “loan repayment” check a few days later.

Republican Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, chairman of the Judiciary Committee, said the deposition will center on “money, business and brands,” ABC News report.
