Republican Texas Rep. Brandon Gill said on Monday that “Republicans are playing this racist game,” accusing Democrats of using blackmail tactics more than immigration policies.
Gill has launched a petition to deport Democrat Minnesota Sen. Ilhan Omar, saying he illegally led Somalis in the United States on how to avoid U.S. immigration and customs enforcement (ICE). Omar responded to CNN on Tuesday. She said that every individual has constitutional rights regardless of their citizenship status. When he appeared in “Editing the Evening”, Gil rebuked Omar for her comments.
“Republicans are playing this racist game, and this won’t scare us any more,” Gill told Elizabeth MacDonald. “We need Washington leaders who are trying to look out for Americans, American citizens, not for foreign illegal aliens. Since then, all her actions and her comments suggest that she is more interested in moving forward with the interests of illegal aliens than she is looking for American citizens. I believe it’s wrong.”
Omar said her detractors use xenophobia to push the agenda forward. Gill rebutted Omar’s statement and criticised immigration policies under former President Joe Biden.
“In the past four years, he has promoted the invasion of 15 million illegal alien people in the country, including Joe Biden and the Democrats themselves. Before Gill filed a petition to deport Omar, Democrats advised US Somalis, including undocumented individuals, on how to avoid ice.
“I advise Somali people that if Ice is about to ask you, you are not obligated to answer their questions. Please state that your lawyer advises you not to answer the questions. Disclosure of your name, immigration status, and entrance form are not required. Learn the law, prepare yourself, and refrain from disclosing information they hope they don’t know,” Omar said according to a. Video’s English subtitles.
