In a joint statement on Friday, the family of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. condemned his support for former President Donald Trump.
Kennedy announced in a speech in Phoenix, Arizona, that he would suspend his campaign and endorse the Republican front-runner after his running mate, Nicole Shanahan, had previously hinted at cooperation between the two candidates. Kennedy's family issued a joint statement calling the decision a “sad ending to a sad story.” (Related: Third-party candidates undermine Biden among disgruntled Democrats, but Harris is a different story.)

Kennedy said the decision to end the campaign was extremely difficult but that he saw no “realistic path to winning the election.” Citation The three main issues that led to his decision are censorship, the ongoing war in Ukraine, and the “war on children.”
“There were three main reasons why I wanted to get involved in this race in the first place, and they are the main reasons that convinced me to leave the Democratic Party, to run as an independent, and now to support President Trump,” Kennedy said Friday.
“I believe in my heart that I no longer have a realistic path to winning the election,” Kennedy said. “I'm not quitting the campaign, I'm just pausing it.”

Kennedy also faced online criticism from his cousin, Jack Schlossberg, who claimed Kennedy was “for sale” and urged his audience to vote for Democratic candidate and current Vice President Kamala Harris instead.
“I've never been more surprised in my life,” Schlossberg said. post Immediately after the announcement, X said, “I've been saying this for over a year, [RFK Jr] “I'm for sale. I work for Trump. I'm with him and I love him. Kamala Harris is for the people. The easiest decision in history just got even easier.”
Trump Welcomed He announced his support shortly after Kennedy's speech and had previously said he would be “honored” to receive the endorsement.
“He's kind of a different kind of guy, very smart, very good guy, and I would be very honored if he endorsed me,” Trump told “Fox & Friends” co-hosts Ainsley Earhardt, Lawrence Jones and Brian Kilmeade, along with guest host Will Cain, on Thursday. “He's a really good, respectable guy.”
The letter was posted by Mr Kennedy's sister, Kerry Kennedy, and signed by his siblings Kathleen, Courtney, Chris and Rory Kennedy.
