Donald Trump Jr. described the “terrifying” moment he learned his father, former President Donald Trump, had been nearly assassinated on Saturday night.
“It's a terrible experience,” the president's son told talk show host Joe Pagliarulo on Sunday, as Secret Service agents rushed Trump off the stage following the shooting that left the former president shot in his right ear, killing former volunteer fire chief Corey Comperatore and wounding two other rally attendees. interview During a special broadcast of “The Joe Pugs Show,” he said he learned of the assassination attempt on his father while he was taking some time off before the Republican National Convention. “I was with my kids when I got the call and nobody really had any information and we didn't know what was going on,” Trump Jr. told Pagliarulo, later adding that the days immediately after the initial reports came out were “a pretty scary time.”

Trump then detailed how the former president has been doing since the attack and how he responded to the assassination attempt: Moments after the gunshots rang out, former President Trump stood, raised his fist and repeatedly yelled “Fight!” as rally attendees chanted “USA!”
“He's very energetic. He's funny in a Trump kind of way. We talked on the phone and I just say, 'Dude, you're a really great guy.' That photo, “It was very symbolic and we all laughed about it,” said Trump Jr. “Obviously, it's a dark time, but Trump will always be Trump.”
The former president's son criticized the rhetoric Democrats are directing toward President Trump.

“I mean, they tried to do it all,” Trump Jr. added. “They tried to remove the Secret Service protection, Democrats in Congress tried to remove the Secret Service protection, while they were calling somebody a fascist and a dictator and all sorts of names, [calling him] “This is the greatest threat to democracy in the history of the world. I don't know, but it seems like they've been calling for this for quite some time,” Trump Jr. said.
