If you are caught lying, you have several options.

You can come clean and admit that you lied, but that’s always the best course of action. You can say you’re innocent but still lie about why you lied. Or they lay low and tell another lie to cover up the first one, gaslighting them a lot.

Democratic New York Sen. Chuck Schumer on Sunday addresses one of the worst political scandals in modern history: a concerted effort to hide President Joe Biden’s chaotic and rapidly disintegrating psyche from the American public. When faced with a choice, he chose the last option.

In February 2024, after special counsel Robert Hur released a damning report on whether the president mishandled classified documents, Schumer cited Biden’s mental acuity. Among other things, Mr. Hoar detailed Mr. Biden’s mental decline and failing memory, almost concluding that the president would not be indicted because Mr. Biden was too frail, sluggish, and unfit to stand trial.

“His mental acuity is amazing. He’s fine. He’s as good as he’s been all these years,” Schumer said at a news conference at the time. “All the right-wing propaganda about his declining mental capacity is wrong.” (Related: Robert Hur’s report is probably the most shocking thing ever written about Joe Biden)

“I talk to President Biden regularly. …His mental acuity is great, okay, as good as it’s been in years.”

On Sunday’s “Meet the Press,” host Kristen Welker hit back at the outgoing Senate majority leader over previous comments about Biden’s physical fitness. Schumer showed no remorse at all, only adding to the gaslighting and reinforcing the overall cover-up.

“What would you say to Americans who feel that you and other Democratic leaders are misleading them about President Biden’s mental strength?” Welker asked.

“Look, we weren’t!” Schumer responded.

Here it is Nancy Pelosi, February 2024:”[Biden’s] Always on top of the ball. Anyone who thinks he has an advantage because of his age thinks that’s dangerous because he’s so sharp. ”

And the vice president kamala harris: “The report’s characterization of the president’s behavior could not be more wrong on the facts, and is clearly politically motivated and gratuitous.”

The Democrats’ lies are pathological at this point. They’re also bad at it, which makes them look even more like clowns. They are still completely convinced that they have the power to shape our collective reality if they just lie and keep lying, even as their propaganda is crumbling around them. .

If Schumer’s comments on Sunday are a sign of things to come, Democrats will struggle to rebuild the coalition that President-elect Donald Trump destroyed. Doubling down on gaslighting will only hurt them in the long run and alienate the voters they need to win back in the midterm elections.
