Sen. Marsha Blackburn: The American people know the Trump verdict was ‘a political setup from the top’

US Senator Marsha Blackburn is adamant that the American people will see through the fraudulent prosecution of former President Donald Trump and will elect him again in November.

Blackburn reacted to the verdict on Talk Radio 102.3's “Yaffie Live” on Monday, calling Trump's conviction unjust.

“This is not equal treatment, this is not equal access, this is not equal justice under the law. The American people are smart,” said Sen. Blackburn, R-Tenn. “They know this was a witch hunt. They know this was a political ploy from above.”

A New York jury on Thursday found Donald Trump guilty of all 34 felony counts of falsifying business records, marking the first time in American history that a former president has been convicted of a crime.

“They're doing that because they know that the FCC looked at this years ago and said it's OK,” Blackburn continued. “And so is the Department of Justice. They're going to bring in Cyrus Vance, who was the district attorney before Alvin Bragg. Alvin Braddock dismissed the case, but then he came back. And the number three at the Department of Justice left the Department of Justice and went to Alvin Bragg's office and is leading the prosecution team on this case. So people have looked at this case. They know this isn't right. And what we know is that the American people are coming out in record numbers to support President Trump.”

Blackburn also explained what she and Senate Republicans plan to do to address the “politicization of our justice system.”

“And now we're doing a couple of things,” she said. “We're going to further slow down Biden's agenda and stop them from going ahead with some of the things they want to move forward with, like funding for judges and agencies that could be used as weapons against the American people. And we're trying to garner that support, not just from the Republican conference but from my Democratic colleagues, so they understand that we're not going to stand by and let this happen.”

The senators were referring to a pledge they had signed, which said, “The White House has made a mockery of the rule of law and fundamentally changed our politics in ways that are un-American. As the Senate Republican Conference, we will not aid and abet the White House's efforts to divide our country.”

Blackburn also said a Trump victory would be the ultimate “revenge” against the Democratic Party.

“I think what you're going to see is what President Trump said,” she asserted. “Winning is the best revenge, and being successful is going to be the best revenge. We were talking about people who came to President Trump because they know what's going on is totally unfair. So what they want is for the issues that they're concerned about, whether they're politically motivated or weaponizing our government, to be resolved. So I think that's one of the things that's really causing people to stand up and say, 'No, we don't like being the United States of America. We're not going to weaponize our local, state or federal government entities against our enemies.'”

“I think people are very uneasy about this,” Senator Blackburn said.
