Senate Dems Kill Legislative Effort To Protect Women’s Sports

Senate Democrats blocked laws Monday evening to ban trans athletes from girls and women’s sports.

The senators voted between 51 and 45 along the party’s line to beat the coagulation votes for Republican Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville Protection of women and girls in sports law. This law will codify President Donald Trump Presidential Order Enacts a category prohibition for transgender athletes to participate in sports for girls and women. According to a New York Times IPSOS vote in January, Senate Democrats chose to fight the law despite about 8 in 10 Americans opposed to the majority of women’s sports in women’s sports, including the majority of transgender athletes.

Tuberville’s bill interprets Title IX to withhold federal funds from schools that would prohibit biological men from participating in girls and women’s sports and allow trans athletes to participate in women’s sports. The Biden administration’s attempt to rewrite Title IX to include gender identities that would have opened up girls and women’s sports to transgender athletes was ultimately blocked by a federal court judge.

“Instead of standing up for women and girls, Democrats voted to vote for an attempted attack on Joe Biden’s Title IX,” Republican Louisiana Sen. Bill Cassidy, chairman of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, told the Daily Callenor News Foundation.

Democrats who voted against the bill to protect women’s sports include Georgia Senators John Ossoff and Rafael Warnock. His members seem to be overwhelmingly supportive of laws that prohibit biological men from competing with women and girls.

Ossov is considered one of the most vulnerable democratic incumbents for re-election in 2026.

“John Ossoff could have joined the overwhelming majority of Georgians in the fight for common sense and kept men out of women’s sports,” said Nick Puglia, regional spokesman for the Senate Committee of the National Republican Republican, after the vote. “Instead, he told his parents and their daughters he believes Democrats must play sports and share locker rooms and bathrooms with biological men.”

About 73% of Georgia residents believe that the Georgia government should ban biological men from participating in women’s sports, according to a January poll from Tyson Group, which surveyed Georgia’s general election voters.

“It’s a matter of fairness and equality,” Senate majority leader John Toon said Monday on the Senate floor. “Girls don’t have to compete in stacked races. Women deserve their own athletic opportunities – opportunities not taken away by biological men have their own space to compete.”

“This is the time to choose for the Democrats,” Thune added. “They can stand with women, or they can stand with the radical trans ideology that women and their opportunities have been sacrificed to make a path for biological men.”

Senate Democrats chose to follow in the footsteps of House Democrats who overwhelmingly voted for similar laws considered in the House on Jan. 14.

Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer did not mention the protection of women and girls in his sports speech during Monday’s floor speech, despite being one of two votes on the Senate’s agenda.

Democrat Hawaii Sen. Brian Schatz announced his opposition to the bill in a speech on the Senate floor that did not mention the word “woman” or “girl,” an obvious omission from the party that has been ridden widely because he struggles to define the word “woman.”

“We’re going to do something that has absolutely nothing to do with 99.9% of all people across the country,” Schats dismissed more than 900 female instances on Monday. Losing An immense example of a female athlete forced to share a trophy for trans athletes and a locker room with a biological man who equates with a woman. “What Republicans do today is to invent the problem of stirring up a culture war and separating people from one another.”

“Republicans are focusing on the wrong 1%,” Schatz added. “They do it by chasing some of the most vulnerable people in our society.

Transgender athletes won a pole-holding race for girls’ high schools in Maine after the state’s high school sports governing body announced a decision to rebel against the president’s executive order. In California, biological men set A national record of the country that won the highest triple jump mark in women’s high school athletics in 2025 on March 1st.

Democrat Nevada Sen. Jackie Rosen, who voted against the bill, spoke to the Daily Color News Foundation before the vote. “These decisions are best left to coaches from parents to teachers to governing bodies like the NCAA.”

Advocates for women’s sports have sharply criticized the NCAA for not fully complying with the president’s executive order and allowing trans athletes to compete in women’s sports through loopholes in their birth certificates.

The Senate Democrats’ united opposition signs that Democrats are continuing to take a massive step away from Americans on transgender issues, and could bear political costs from voters who view the party as radical on cultural issues.

“The Senate vote on women and girls in sports law on Monday could be the ultimate claw for the co-op for modern Democrats,” said Macy Petty, a female legislative strategist for America and former NCAA volleyball player. I wrote it X Thursday. “Politics are coordinated and they are remembered in history as one of the most anti-women’s movements of our time.”

Senate Democrats too It’s blocked Amendment at the 118th Congress that will allow Tuberville to provide trans athletes from women’s sports to bars.
