forecast: This afternoon and into the evening, the upper ridge of the anticyclone will be positioned, bringing fast easterly currents into the monitoring area. As a result, a thunderstorm will develop and move westward. Today’s thunderstorms could bring significant hail and damaging winds, especially in Santa Cruz and eastern Pima County…

Tomorrow (Sunday) the storm will intensify further west and could affect Pinal and Maricopa counties further north. These zones are not within AZWF’s severe thunderstorm monitoring today, but will be monitored for the issuance of additional monitoring tomorrow (Sunday).
