A year of being queen is full of tiaras, bling, hair dips, and adventures. Of course, most of the glittery and flashy hair dips were for a horse named Rocky, but Queen Shayla was able to wear the tiara as a hat band at many rodeo parades and functions this year.
Shaila Hatch is the 2023 Yuma County Fair Queen.
Shaila has lived in Yuma County all her life. She grew up in Ray, Colorado. Sheila has always been involved in farming, cattle and horses. She also participated in the 4-H program. Shayla recently completed an associate degree from Northeastern Junior College.
Shyla and her horse are traveling all over Colorado.
In June he was in Elizabeth, Colorado; Glover, Colorado; and Arapahoe County. She also went to Cheyenne Frontier Days for brunch.

Most of the time, she participated in grand entrances to arenas, hoisted flags, and represented Yuma County in several parades.
However, horse and trailer travel isn’t always full of glitter and tiaras. It also involves hard work.
Shaila must pack for herself and her horse. She has two of hers, Rocky and Hayspot, who have performed at her rodeo events.
Packing a horse means carrying food, water, grooming supplies and tack. She must keep the trailer clean, maintain it and take care of the health of the horses at all times. She is grateful to Yuma for her county fair sponsorship of her queen horse, Twin Forks for her clinic’s great help in keeping the horses healthy.
Shayla enjoys being part of the rodeo community and is very grateful for all the help given along the way. “it was fun!”
