Old Dominion Days at the Gila County Historical Museum kicks off tonight (Wednesday, September 28) with a Meet the Artist Reception hosted by Globe Photographer Amanda Moores. Her exhibit features new work shot this summer, including a long-exposure scene of the Milky Way during the summer when the galaxy’s breathtaking “core” is visible at its darkest night. Photos of lightning bolts from the summer storm of 2022, as well as her creative time-lapse videos of these subjects, will also be shown on a flat-screen TV set up in the museum to coincide with the exhibit.

A professional wildlife biologist and resident of The Globe Theater since 1995, Moores specializes in biological studies of the U.S. Forest Service, the University of Arizona, the Bureau of Land Management, local ranchers, and the San Carlos Apache Tribe. is.
