At 9:30 a.m. on February 17, officials from Gila, Grove, and Miami counties held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Golden Hill-Main Street Pathway project. On February 6, public works engineers and staff hosted an open house to outline the Golden Hill Road and Main Street project. The work consisted of constructing a new concrete sidewalk on Golden Hill Road and a variable-width pedestrian walkway on Main Street. The Golden Hill Road section requires contractors to move some mailboxes. Gila County is working with the U.S. Postal Service to determine the best locations and types for new mailboxes. Individual mailboxes are replaced with cluster boxes in secure and easily accessible locations.
