Grove — The Gila County Interim Community College School District (GCPCCD) is considering reducing the tax rate slightly for the 2024 budget year. The reduced tax rate was made possible because the overall valuation of Gila County real estate has continued to rise over the past several years, with the net effect of generating additional income for Gila County’s higher education. The GCPCCD board will make a final decision at its June board meeting.
The tax rate will drop from .9425 to .9177 as property values have increased countywide. The legal language calls this a tax increase, even though it is actually a tax rate reduction, because the tax rate reduction generates additional funds.

“The Gila County Interim Community College School District is currently contracting Eastern Arizona College to provide educational services at the Gila Pueblo and Payson campuses,” said GCPCCD President Dr. Janet Blocker. “This additional funding will add even more value and allow us to continue providing educational opportunities to Gila County residents.”
