Sinema Introduces Bipartisan Legislation Creating Jobs & Boosting Renewable Energy in La Paz County

Senator’s Bill Transfers Thousands of Acres of Land from Federal Government to La Paz County for Economic Development Projects

Washington – Arizona Senior Senator Kirsten Cinema, La Paz County Solar Energy and Job Creation Act – A bipartisan law directing the Ministry of the Interior to transfer approximately 4,800 acres of land from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) to La Paz County to facilitate economic development, i.e. solar energy projects.

“I am focused on delivering real results that solve the challenges facing communities across Arizona. After listening to La Paz County residents, I created high paying jobs. , will introduce bipartisan legislation that promotes affordable renewable energy and ensures healthy local economies,” said Cinema.

“As Chairman of the Oversight Board, I would like to thank Senator Cinema and Senator Kelly for their continued support of our groundbreaking solar project. It will be a project that will greatly improve the economic future of La Paz County,” said County Supervisor Holly Irwin.

Senator Mark Kelly (Democrat, Arizona) co-sponsored the Cinema bill, and Rep. Paul Gossar (Republican, Arizona) introduced a related bill to the US House of Representatives.

of La Paz County Solar Energy and Job Creation Act The Department of the Interior will ensure that the transfer of federal land containing significant cultural, environmental, wildlife, or recreational resources is excluded.

The bipartisan law obliges, as a condition of the transfer, La Paz County and subsequent owners to: Make a good faith effort not to interfere with tribal relics. Minimize the impact on tribal crafts when they are sabotaged. Collaborate with the Colorado River Indian Tribal and Tribal Historic Preservation Service to identify artifacts of cultural and historical significance. and allow tribal representatives to rebury unearthed artifacts at or near the site of discovery.

In 2020, the La Paz County Board of Supervisors filed a written endorsement of Arizona Cinema. La Paz County Solar Energy and Job Creation Act – Argued that the cinema bill will create jobs and help promote a clean energy future in Arizona.
