Socialists in America Are Intoxicated by Authority. Footage of Their Wild Gatherings Shows It

Recent Developments in American Democratic Socialism

The American Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) have eagerly embraced the recent electoral triumphs of Zoran Mamdani, who made headlines by unseating former Democratic governor Andrew Cuomo in the New York City mayoral primary last June. This victory positions Mamdani as the largest city mayor in the U.S., igniting excitement among socialists. The DSA is now pushing for a transformative cultural shift at their 2025 Socialism Conference held recently.

During the conference, several striking remarks were shared, reflecting the DSA’s ambitious agenda regarding traditional family structures. For instance, one panelist noted, “I want to have an abortion before the church says it all.” Another commented, “The only real difference between marriage and prostitution is the price and duration of the contract.” This underscores a provocative stance on societal norms.

Additionally, another quote captured the essence of their ideology: “Sex work and marriage can’t exist without each other. They are on both sides of the same coin.” Another participant boldly stated, “We generally advocate for abolishing the family… The family system serves as part of the physical system.” They further elaborated on their vision, saying, “When we talk about abolition of families, we discuss abolishing economic units… all our material needs are cared for by groups.”

In a different panel, the DSA openly championed their intentions to utilize the authority within the mayor’s office to offer free gender-affirming care to residents across the nation. Daniel Goulden, from the NYC DSA steering committee, remarked, “Zoran is literally trying to do what conservatives say we want to do.” This indicates a readiness to challenge traditional values and extend support for gender rights.

Goulden continued, “This provides gender-affirming care to those who want it for free. We’re going to skip people and pay for hotel rooms.” The DSA collaborated closely with Mamdani’s campaign on this platform, highlighting their committed effort to leverage New York City’s influence for broader social change.

The spirit within the DSA is both ambitious and unapologetic. They appear invigorated by Mamdani’s success, showing determination to push their radical agenda further. This surge in confidence can be attributed, in part, to a growing leftist sentiment on college campuses, one that has been bubbling for a while, predating the Trump administration.

Mamdani’s proposals seem to be gaining traction among progressive circles, with figures like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez gaining popularity alongside him. However, critiquing Mamdani or other leftist figures can lead to social media backlash, as activists closely monitor dissenting voices.

The DSA’s views on family structures and community needs are quite radical, and although they haven’t found significant success in national elections, they believe the current landscape might allow them to advance their cause.
