‘Stop It’: Charlamagne Questions Former DNC Chair Jaime Harrison on Not Urging Biden to Quit

Charlamagne Tha God Challenges Former DNC Chair Over Biden’s 2024 Campaign

On Friday, radio host Charlamagne Tha God confronted former Democratic National Committee (DNC) chair Jaime Harrison during the “Breakfast Club” show. The discussion centered around former President Joe Biden’s decision to remain in the 2024 election race.

Biden didn’t actually withdraw from his campaign until July 21, 2024, following some intense debate the month prior. There was significant pressure for him to step down from his party. During the show, Harrison defended the DNC’s process of selecting a presidential candidate, which Charlamagne dismissed as “a bunch of Baronies.”

“Stop it, Jaime,” Charlamagne interjected. “It’s not Barony… you can tell the truth.”

Harrison maintained he was being honest, questioning what kind of influence he, as DNC chair, was supposed to wield. “Like people said, ‘Well, you might have told Joe Biden not to run.’ Seriously?” he asked.

“You may or should have,” Charlamagne shot back.

Harrison claimed that when Biden was advised to withdraw, he “didn’t listen.” However, Charlamagne argued that Biden’s final decision came only after considerable pressure, suggesting that “everyone should have told him before.”

The former DNC chairman asserted that Biden ultimately recognized he was causing a rift in the Democratic Party. “Stop it, Jaime. You can’t see them anymore. That guy was too old,” Charlamagne responded. “Everyone knew he was too old. He should have been an interim president from the start.”

Harrison conceded to some extent but questioned why others didn’t step up if they believed Biden was too old. “If people thought Joe Biden was too old, then real people would have stepped up and said, ‘What do you know? I’m going to run.’”

Charlamagne pointed out that former Minnesota Rep. Dean Phillips had challenged Biden, but was pushed out by the Democrats. In contrast, Harrison downplayed Phillips as not a “serious” contender, but Charlamagne ensured the point was made that this circumstance was separate.

Throughout the 2020 campaign, Biden’s health became a topic of skepticism among voters and Republicans alike.

Harrison was not alone in his support for Biden’s campaign for re-election in 2024. Democrats rallied behind him, chanting “Four more years!” during the former President’s State of the Union address in March 2024.
