La Paz County, Arizona (3TV/CBS 5) — A strong monsoon made travel hazardous in western Arizona Thursday.
High winds caused multiple semi-trucks to roll over on Interstate 10 in the New Hope area, about an hour west of Tonopah. Witnesses told the Arizona family that about 10 tractor-trailers overturned in both the westbound and eastbound lanes. However, the Ministry of Public Security has not confirmed how many people were turned over.
The westbound side of I-10 was closed for about 45 minutes, but has since reopened. It was temporarily closed for a second time before reopening. Eastbound lanes remain closed to traffic. DPS said there were no serious injuries.
UPDATE: All westbound lanes of I-10 have reopened at milepost 47.
The eastbound right lane remains closed.
