Supreme Court Allows Official Fired By Trump To Remain For Now

The U.S. Supreme Court ruled on Friday that Hampton Dillinger, a special advisor to the U.S. Special Advisor, is permitted to remain in his position despite the Trump administration’s demands to fire him.

Dillinger, appointed by former President Joe Biden in October 2023, was fired by President Donald Trump on February 7th. Dillinger immediately sued the Trump administration after his removal, and was approved by a lower court and temporarily remained in his position. However, the Trump administration filed an emergency application with the U.S. Supreme Court, demanding justice rules on the matter.

However, in filings filed Friday evening, the majority of justice refused to support the Trump administration’s appeal, allowing Dillinger to temporarily remain in his position. Related: Legacy Media Outlet sues Trump administrator after being banned from White House events

In the filing, the two liberal justices, Sonia Sotomayor and Ketanji Brown Jackson, opposed, saying they had not accepted the Trump administration’s appeal. Two conservative justice, Neil Gorsucci and Samuel Alito, also opposed, saying they would have accepted the administration’s demand to block the lower court’s decision.

“The district court had not addressed any of these complications before ordering Mr Dellinger to reinstate his office, and if there is an answer to the questions raised by the relief order, they would have decided that court. It does not appear anywhere in the country. Therefore, I will vacate the district court order and remand it with instructions to consider the “confinement of traditional fair relief,” wrote Judge Gorsuch.

Dellinger’s lower court order pending the special advisor’s lawsuit until February 26th. Once next week’s order expires, we will consider an additional pause on Dellinger’s removal.

“To date, as far as we know, the courts of American history have held the president responsible for enforcing the head of an agency that the president believes should not be entrusted with executive power, and he He has not exercised an injunction to prevent him from relying on his preferences. Representative Attorney General Sarah Harris wrote in the petition to assist Dellinger.

The Trump administration did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.
