Phoenix Murder Investigation Launched Following Teen Deaths
A murder investigation has been initiated after the deaths of two teenagers were discovered east of the valley earlier this week.
The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies were summoned to a location near SR 87, positioned between Mesa and Payson, early Tuesday morning. Upon arrival, they found two bodies not far from the Gila County border.
The first victim has been identified as 18-year-old Pandora Kjolsrud. The name of the 17-year-old girl has not been released due to her age, but reports indicate that she is Evan Clark, according to various sources and online records from the Maricopa County Clinic’s medical inspector.
Currently, details about the incident are sparse, though authorities are treating the deaths as murders.
“Our primary objective right now is to carry out thorough and careful investigations. It’s essential for us to seek justice for the victims and their families. We’re collaborating closely with our law enforcement allies and would appreciate the community’s patience as we work through the facts,” stated the Sheriff’s Office.
The community is encouraged to reach out to the MCSO at 602-876-TIPS with any information that may assist in the investigation.
Both victims were students at Arcadia High School in East Phoenix, as confirmed by Arizona families. In response, Arcadia Principal Dr. Janelle Dansky communicated with students and families via a letter on Thursday morning.
“Dear Arcadia Community,
It’s profoundly saddening to report that two of our students have tragically passed away. This loss will undoubtedly impact many of our staff, students, and their families. We ask for respect for the families’ privacy during this challenging time, especially given the limited details available.”
