Democratic California Rep. Eric Swalwell took to the House floor on Wednesday to defend former President Donald Trump’s “vulgar” defenders while also defending California Democrat Rep. Adam Schiff.
“Will you be remembered as a history book footnote or infantryman documenting Donald Trump’s corruption, or will you be as decent as Adam Schiff?” Swalwell asked lawmakers.

Swalwell’s remarks refer to Republicans’ attempts to blame Schiff for his role in the 2016 Russia-Trump collusion probe. The censure motion was defeated on June 14 after 20 Republicans voted against it. Republicans across the ranks to oppose Florida Rep. Anna Paulina Luna’s censure motion included Kentucky Rep. Schiff called the motion “distracting” and called the Republican lawmakers who supported it “crazy.” The House of Representatives is now considering alternative censures against Mr. Schiff, which does not impose a fine. There is a high possibility that it will be transmitted in line with the party’s policy.
When Republicans took control of the House in January, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy removed Schiff and Swalwell from their positions on the House Intelligence Committee. Quote Mr. Schiff’s misleading allegations of Russian collusion and Mr. Swalwell’s contacts with alleged Chinese spies.
