President Joe Biden seemed a little confused as he spoke at a church in South Carolina on Sunday.
First, he I made a mistake Constitutional Declaration of Independence.
“The Bible teaches us that we will know the truth and the truth will set us free,” Biden said, according to the White House transcript. “Well, I think we know the truth. We know the truth. We know what the choice is here. It's pretty harsh, isn't it? And it's about dignity and… It’s about respect. It’s about whether we believe—”
“We are the most unique country in the world,” Biden said. “Now everyone says things like that about their country, but every other country is organized based on ethnicity, geography, religion. We are the only country in the world based on the idea, which is contained in our Constitution: “We hold these truths to be self-evident. The creator has certain inalienable rights, such as life and liberty. ”
“We've never fully responded to this, but we've never escaped it,” Biden said. “Every generation brings us closer. Until now, it's on the brink. It's literally on the brink.”
Of course, it was the Declaration of Independence, not the Constitution, which stated that “all men are created equal, endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, among them Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.” It says, “Includes.”
This is not the first time Biden has made such a mistake. On June 29, 2023, he did an interview with Nicole Wallace on MSNBC.As reported by multiple news sites and memorialized in a video, Mr. Said And, “The Constitution says: We hold these truths to be self-evident. All men and women are created equal and endowed by their Creator.”
But Biden was right to declare that the principle that everyone has a God-given right to life is at risk in America today.
And Biden is one of the politicians who is putting that at risk.
The night before speaking at a church in South Carolina, Biden spoke at a dinner in South Carolina, vowing to veto the federal ban on abortion and sign legislation to legalize it nationwide.
“I’ve made it clear: If MAGA Republicans try to pass a national abortion ban, I will veto it,” he said. “And remember that promises are made and promises are kept.
“And if you get a Democratic majority in the House and Senate and re-elect me and Kamala…I imagine a future where, this November, we reinstate Roe v. Wade as the law of the land. Try it,” he said.
“Promises have been made and promises will be kept,” Biden said.
This is a repeat of a pledge Biden made in a January 23 speech in Manassas, Virginia.
“We need Roe v. Wade protections in every state,” Biden said at the time, according to White House records. “And we can do it.”
“Give me a Democratic House, and give me…a larger Democratic Senate, and we will pass new legislation that restores the protections of Roe v. Wade, and I will immediately do so.” I will sign it,” Biden said.
Speaking at a church in South Carolina on Sunday, Biden noted his Catholic status.
“I'm a devout Catholic and I used to go to 7:30 Mass at St. Joe's,” he said, according to White House records.
“I don't want to get overly religious here, but I think the faith element of what we believe and what we do and what we do is really important,” Biden said.
“And, you know, as I said earlier, the Bible teaches that we know the truth and the truth will set us free. And we had to focus on that. . We have to focus on that,” he said.
After Biden vowed to sign legislation in Manassas codifying Roe v. Wade nationwide, Bishop Michael Burbidge of the Diocese of Arlington, which includes Manassas, issued a statement condemning Biden's position on abortion. Announced.
“President Biden has made abortion a centerpiece of his campaign,” Bishop Burbidge said. “At a rally in Manassas, Virginia, he advocated for Roe v. Wade to become law. It's incredible to know that President Biden will put 'choice' above his sacred duty to protect life.” It’s shocking.”
“Women facing unplanned or difficult pregnancies need support that affirms and supports their lives, not destroys them,” the bishop said.
In a speech Sunday in South Carolina, Biden declared, “We know the truth” and “the truth will set us free.”
So what is the truth about fetuses?
As previously noted in this column, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has a page on its website that cites scientific sources on the question of when human life begins. One of his works, Van Nostrand's Encyclopedia of Science, clearly states, “The moment a human male sperm cell meets a female egg and the union produces a fertilized egg (zygote), a new life begins.'' It is stated in
By calling for federal legislation to codify Roe v. Wade, President Biden is calling for federal legislation to violate the right to life, one of the God-given rights listed in the Declaration of Independence. ing.
