Terrifying Video Shows Roller Coaster Passengers Hanging Upside-Down After Ride Abruptly Stops

Videos and reports said roller coaster passengers were stuck upside down after suddenly stopping on Sunday afternoon.

Footage captured by an eyewitness shows people floating in the air at the Forrest County Festival in Crandon, Wisconsin. according to WAOW News 9. Roller coaster ‘Fireball’ trapped visitors upside down for hours after ‘mechanical failure’ caused ride to pause and get stuck, said Capt. Brennan Cook of Crandon Fire Department Said ABC 7 Chicago.

“This vehicle was recently inspected on site by the State of Wisconsin,” Cook added.

The Antigo Fire Department arrived on the scene with ladders as firefighters from the Crandon Fire Department did not have the proper equipment to rescue the stranded. (Related: Subcontractor dies after falling while repairing rides at Jersey Shore amusement park)

“Crandon didn’t have a ladder at all, so he needed ours to help him,” said Captain Adam Finn of the Antigo Fire Department, according to the newspaper.

One eyewitness, Scott Blass, told WAOW that the community should help the Crandon Fire Department obtain more equipment, given the reported events at the festival. “If our department had such a truck, we could have unloaded it an hour earlier, but I know it will be expensive,” Blass said, according to the newspaper. “But you need it not only for days like today, but also for large building fires. What are you going to do?”

WAOW reports that all passengers were safely removed from the vehicle. Details of their condition remain unknown.

Another roller coaster is also said to have had trouble during the July 4th holiday. Roller coaster Fury 325 in Carowinds, North Carolina, was temporarily closed after someone noted a crack in the top of a steel column. A video showing the potential danger was posted online, showing the vehicle’s obvious instability. Authorities are conducting necessary inspections and maintenance.
