‘That’s Enormous’: Steve Kornacki Describes Massive ‘Gender Gap’ Between Trump, Harris In New Poll

NBC national political reporter Steve Kornacki said during an appearance on “Meet the Press” that a new poll shows Vice President Kamala Harris is benefiting from a large “gender gap” among voters.

Harris leads former President Donald Trump, 49% to 44%, in a new NBC poll. vote release On Sunday, Harris opened up a 6-point lead when third-party candidates were included. “I should also point out that one of the factors that's driving this lead is a pretty significant gender gap. Among women, Harris has a 21-point lead,” Kornacki told Welcker. “Among men, Trump has a 12-point lead. That's a 33-point gender gap. What we're seeing here is a pretty significant gap.”

“Of course, you look at the debates that have taken place over the last few weeks,” Kornacki continued, referring to the Sept. 10 debate hosted by ABC News hosts David Muir and Lindsey Davis. “Nearly 30 percent say the debate made them more likely to support Harris. Far fewer say they are much more likely to support Trump, which again may work in Harris' favor. And then there's the view, the overall perception, of Kamala Harris. Remember, before she entered the race, there was a lot of talk about her not doing better than Biden in terms of approval ratings. She was at 32 percent approval and 50 percent disapproval before she entered the race, and now this is where it is.”

“I have to stop here, because on this issue, no politician since George W. Bush has seen such an increase in approval ratings following the attacks of September 11th,” an excited Welker said after Kornacki showed an NBC poll showing that 48 percent of respondents had a favorable view of Harris and 45 percent had an unfavorable view.

The NBC poll was conducted Sept. 13-17 among 1,000 registered voters and has a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points.
