‘The Border Is Closed’: Trump Admin Claims Historic Low In Migrant Crossings

The Trump administration says its record of the worst border encounters ever in a month is broken, marking a dramatic shift from the monthly border encounters experienced under the Biden White House.

Border Patrol agents counted around 7,180 intersections along the US-Mexico border during March. According to Data released Tuesday by Customs and Border Protection (CBP). This figure contrasts with an average monthly border crossing of 155,000 borders over the past four years, and an average border encounter of 5,100 per day since that era. Daily Southern border anxiety is currently falling to around 230 a day. This is said to be the lowest in US history where the administration has been recorded.

“Under President Trump’s leadership [Homeland Security Kristi] Noem, the administration has taken bold and decisive action to restore control at the border,” CBP Commissioner Pete Flores said in a prepared statement.

On February 4th, 2025, we will search for the border to the US from Chiudad Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico.

“The message is clear. The borders are closed at illegal intersections and I know this for those who are still willing to test our resolve. You will be charged and you will be deported,” continued Flores.

Since Trump took office, border encounters have steadily declined. Noem Confirmed In March, it marked the lowest daily anxiety count in over 15 years, as only 200 immigrants met on the US-Mexican border on February 22nd.

The incredible shift follows President Donald Trump’s overhaul of immigration enforcement system. Since re-entering the White House in January, his administration has declared a state of emergency that will allow more resources, including the military, to be repurposed to the border, and has successfully strengthened its border security, abolishing commonly used asylum apps and prioritizing border wall construction.

The Trump White House also leaned heavily towards internal enforcement, detaining and deporting illegal criminal immigrants across the country.

At the height of the 2023 immigration crisis, more than half a million migrants crossed the Darien Gap at the height of the 5023 immigration crisis.

Sanctuary jurisdictions across the country and other areas where illegal immigrants have flooded are steadily beginning to close many of the migrant shelters, once attributed to the border crisis. With very few illegal immigrants in it, local leaders said the costs of operating these shelters are no longer justified.

The dramatic changes at the southern borders contrasted sharply with the general narrative during the presidential issue in 2024, with many Trump’s democratic opponents claiming that the Senate border contract failed to address the crisis of illegal immigration. The changes currently taking place at the border are largely due to changes in administration by the Trump White House.

“Thanks to President Trump’s leadership, Border Patrol agents are back at doing the jobs they signed up to secure their borders, not as illegal alien travel agents,” White House press chief Carolyn Leavitt said Tuesday. “The deportation of illegal foreigners that threatens the safety of Americans is also continuing at a rapid pace.”
