‘They Blew His Head Off’: Witness Describes Trying To Warn Police Moments Before Trump Assassination Attempt

A video shared on social media on Saturday shows a live BBC News interview with a witness who says he tried to warn police before the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, and also claims the Secret Service “blew his head off” the shooter.

A shooting occurred at a Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on Saturday evening, leaving Trump with a wound near his right ear. In a live interview with BBC News after the incident, a witness claimed that he and some friends saw the shooter and tried to call the police.

The man claimed that minutes after Trump began his speech, he and some friends “noticed a man crawling military-style on the roof of a building next door.” “He had a rifle,” he told the BBC. “It was clear he had a rifle.” He said the police response was disorganized and did not seem to realise what was going on.

“They didn't know what was going on,” he continued. “We were like, 'Hey, I can see him here from the roof! I can see him.'” The man then appeared to ask himself, “Why is Trump still talking? Why don't they get him off the stage?” (Related: A bloodied Trump appears to stand up and yell “fight” after assassination attempt)

The man claimed that security then did nothing for several minutes while the gunman took up his position. “The next moment, five gunshots rang out,” he said.
