‘They Went Crazy’: Maria Bartiromo Says She Had To Speak Up After Seeing ‘Small Cabal’ Control Trump’s Media Coverage

Fox News' Maria Bartiromo said on her podcast on Wednesday that she recognized a “small cabal” of people in the media who were misrepresenting former President Donald Trump and felt the need to speak out.

Political commentators such as Democratic strategist James Carville have advocated for mainstream media to become more biased toward Trump as Vice President Kamala Harris' victory in the presidential election continues to look certain. Speaking on “The Sage Steele Show,” Bartiromo said that coverage of Trump and his administration has been “incredibly unfair” over the past decade because Trump “has polarized so many people.”

“So, over the last 10 years, I think part of the problem is that Donald Trump came on the scene and polarized a lot of people and drove them crazy, and I think there’s a little cabal that hates him and has convinced its supporters, whether you talk to the media, academia or whoever. [about]Hollywood,” Bartiromo said.

“I thought it was incredibly unfair and I called it out. I mean, I think it's an incident that the mainstream media has caused. This happened to them with Donald Trump and they just… don't want to cover him fairly,” Bartiromo continued.

Steele then said people “can't stand” Trump entering politics, to which Bartiromo responded that this was because Steele had exposed “the corruption of people”. (Related: “We get it all wrong all the time”: Chris Cuomo defends Trump supporters, says “they're not all” bigots)

“They refuse,” Steele said. “They refuse and they get away with it. I think the worst part is that their bosses and leaders willfully allow it. It's so funny, I was laughing at the TDS that people were talking about. I thought, 'Oh my gosh, this is real.' People can't stand it.”

“Why? I think it's because he exposes their corruption, the corruption of some people, and he doesn't mind talking about it. And they see him as a danger in that regard,” Bartiromo responded.

Republicans have criticized mainstream media outlets for downplaying President Joe Biden's mental health, but following Biden's poor performance in the debate, the media appears to have turned against the president, questioning his mental health and his ability to serve a second term before wrapping up his reelection bid.

Recent reports have revealed that the Harris-Waltz campaign has continued to deny reporters and photographers from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette access to campaign events, citing a labor dispute at the company.
