Concerns Over Unaccompanied Minors Under Biden Administration
During a recent appearance on Fox News, Bordertum Homan shared alarming updates regarding unaccompanied minors under the Biden administration. He noted that as of February 2023, at least 85,000 children in the care of the Refugee Resettlement Office remained unaccounted for, though reports suggested the number could be as high as 300,000, according to the New York Times.
Host Harris Faulkner inquired about the administration’s apparent lack of action regarding these children. Homan responded, expressing frustration that the Biden administration was not actively seeking these minors. He highlighted that during Trump’s presidency, there was a concerted effort not only to locate these children but also to ensure safer borders. Homan emphasized the dangers that many of these children face, including trafficking and forced labor, underscoring that many were found with the help of their families.
In a separate incident on July 10, ICE executed a search warrant at two marijuana farms in California, rescuing at least ten minors, eight of whom were said to be unaccompanied. The operation reportedly involved violence, including an incident where an individual fired a weapon at an ICE agent.
Homan remarked that while immigration challenges would persist, the primary focus should be on combating human trafficking and ensuring the safety of these children—a priority he claims the previous administration prioritized more. He reflected on the consequences of immigration policies, particularly the separation of families when minors are smuggled into the country by cartels.
Additionally, Homan mentioned the tragic cases of families he met who had lost children to violence, citing individuals released back onto the streets due to Biden’s policies.
During Trump’s presidency, several executive orders were issued to tackle illegal immigration and enhance border security. These included specific designations of drug cartels and gangs like MS-13 as foreign terrorist organizations, attempting to expedite deportations for gang members.
