‘Total Sham’: CNN’s Scott Jennings Torches NY Officials For Playing ‘Partisan Politics’ With Trump Case

CNN’s Scott Jennings on Friday slammed New York officials over President-elect Donald Trump’s case, accusing them of “partisan” politics.

New York Judge Juan Marchand released a filing Friday night ordering Trump to be sentenced 10 days before the Jan. 20 inauguration. Judge Marchan indicated that Trump does not intend to serve any time in prison. On CNN’s “Erin Burnett Outfront,” Burnett asked Jennings whether President Trump should “do something” about the convictions if “there is no real punishment.”

“Perhaps he can continue to show up and show what this incident was in the first place and that it was for a political topic,” Jennings said. “This case should never have been brought. If Donald Trump wasn’t Donald Trump and he wasn’t running for president, it would have been brought by a partisan prosecutor. This case should not have been charged with a felony.” This method is completely and completely bogus. This is a kangaroo court.

“Of course he won’t be punished for that because the only reason they did it was to call him a convicted felon during the election. They did that, and then the American people categorically rejected “this naked partisan politics,” Jennings added.

Jennings went on to highlight recent subway crimes in New York, saying the city’s criminal justice system was being “used” against the former president instead of addressing the “violence” that was occurring. clock:

“As I watch the news in New York City right now, I see people getting burned on the subway, people running around with all kinds of violence in the past instead of in prison, and the criminal justice system being used against Donald Trump. ” Jennings said. “Think carefully about who you elect: Alvin Bragg and this judge. These people have their priorities completely misplaced.”

In May, a Manhattan jury found Mr. Trump guilty of all 34 felonies brought by Manhattan Democratic District Attorney Alvin Bragg, who said Mr. He said he is suspected of falsifying business records over the payment of confidentiality fees to porn star Stormy Daniels.

Throughout Mr. Trump’s trial, some have wondered whether President Joe Biden was involved in Mr. Bragg’s case against Mr. Trump.

Matthew Colangelo, who attended Mr. Bragg’s post-sentence press conference and joined the Manhattan district attorney’s team in December 2022, previously worked under Mr. Biden as an acting deputy attorney general. He also served for two years in the Biden administration’s Department of Justice. According to 2018 Federal Election Commission records, Mr. Colangelo received thousands of dollars from the Democratic National Committee for “political consulting.” But by December 2022, Mr. Colangelo had joined the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office as a senior adviser, leading an investigation into the Trump Foundation, which led to its dissolution, and then working on Mr. Trump’s record-tampering case.

Trump’s sentencing was originally scheduled for July 11, but the date had been postponed indefinitely following the president’s victory in November after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled on his presidential immunity lawsuit. caused the postponement.

Trump does not have to appear in court in person. Marchand wrote that the former president may attend virtually.
