Trump: ‘Very wonderful young Senator’ Katie Britt called to affirm support for protecting IVF

Former President Donald Trump, in an interview with Sean Hannity on Fox News Thursday night, warned families and prospective parents seeking in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment following an Alabama Supreme Court ruling last week. He said he has talked with U.S. Sen. Katie Britt about supporting the United States. The court has sparked a debate on this issue across the United States.

“I came out right away and said I want to help women,” Trump told Fox. “Quite simply, they're having a hard time having a baby, and they're getting help from clinics and others, and then all of a sudden births are stopped in Alabama. We made a very strong statement that we were in favor of that.”

“I got a call from Katie Britt, a really nice young senator from Alabama, and she said that some of my friends came over and almost attacked her. They were very upset about it. It was standing up.”

President Trump said he discussed the situation at length as state-level lawmakers begin swift efforts to ensure protections. clock:

“So I said, what's the problem? What does that explain? What exactly is IVF? And we asked people to help us. We're on the side of women,'' President Trump said.

Sen. Britt (R-Montgomery) spoke out about protecting families concerned about treatment options the day before President Trump spoke out strongly on the issue.

“Make no mistake: Saving lives and ensuring continued access to IVF services for loving parents are not mutually exclusive,” Britt said last week. “My goal is for Alabama to be the best place in the world to live, work, worship and raise a family.”

“At the end of the day, IVF helps create life and grow families, and it deserves to be protected by law.” “We will continue to promote a culture of living while ensuring the necessary opportunities and resources,” she said.
