Trump Admin Freezes Millions In Federal Funds For Ivy League School Allowing Men In Women’s Sports

The Trump administration has suspended federal funds from the University of Pennsylvania (UPENN), according to an announcement from the President’s Quick Response X account.

The announcement said decisions were made due to the school’s “policies that force women to compete with men in sports.” According to For posting. The suspended funding was provided by the Department of Defense (DOD) and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), White House officials told the Daily Callenor News Foundation.

“Upenn allowed women to notoriously compete on women’s swimming teams, overturning multiple hard-earned records that women earned, and allowing completely unharmed male access to the locker room,” a White House official told DCNF. “This is not the result of a Title IX investigation launched by the Ministry of Education, which is an immediate and aggressive measure to consider discretionary funding for these universities.

Upenn first stirred up the confusion when male athlete Lia Thomas, who claims to be a woman, allowed him to compete on the women’s swimming team. Thomas broke the women’s record at the 2022 NCAA Championship. Thomas and several athletes who competed in the women’s team later filed a lawsuit alleging that they were forced to compete in front of men and change.

President Donald Trump signed an executive order on February 5th banning men from competing in women’s sports under Title IX, and also directed the Department of Education to investigate schools that violate the order. The president later doubled by demanding that the NCAA revive a record of women wiped out by male athletes.

This is not the first instance in which the administration has revoked federal funds from the university as Columbia University was treated similarly because it failed to protect Jewish students from campus harassment and discrimination. Several female athletes were injured after being forced to compete with men, including 19-year-old Payton McNabb, who suffered traumatic brain damage after a male athlete claimed to be a transgender woman, claimed she had spiked her head. McNabb was invited to be the president’s guest in his first joint speech to Congress in his second term.

Upenn did not immediately respond to DCNF’s request for comment.
