The Trump administration is funding Florida projects and is attempting to turn the Everglades airfield (surrounded by swamps and crocodiles) into a massive immigration detention facility.
Florida GOP Attorney General James Usmier, who dubbed the project “Crocodile Alcatraz,” proposed the idea at the beginning of June, suggesting that the location was perfect as detainees could virtually escape. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Kristi Noem confirmed in an official statement that at least the majority will be funded by FEMA’s shelter and services programs. “Under President Trump’s leadership, we work at Turbospeed, providing a cost-effective and innovative way to realize American missions against the massive deportation of criminally illegal aliens,” Noem said Monday night. x. “Thanks to our partnership with Florida, we will be expanding our facilities and bed space in just a few days.”
In contrast to policy changes since the last administration, Noem said the Biden White House will use these FEMA funds to pay for illegal immigrant housing at luxury accommodations such as the Roosevelt Hotel, which protected the killers of Laken Riley and other immigrant gang members.

“People are leaving. There’s not much waiting for them except for crocodiles and pythons. They can’t go anywhere and there’s nowhere to hide,” Usmieyer said of the proposal previously.
