Trump Announces His Pick For White House Press Secretary

President-elect Donald Trump announced Friday that he has appointed Caroline Leavitt as White House press secretary.

Mr. Levitt served as national spokesperson during the election campaign and transition. Her experience includes serving as assistant press secretary in the first Trump administration.

Her performance impressed Trump and solidified her reputation as a reliable defender of his policies on television, the NYT reported, citing campaign sources. Levitt previously sought to win a congressional seat in New Hampshire in 2022.

According to the NYT, she won her party’s primary, but fell short of the Democratic incumbent in the general election. Like Mr. Levitt, Mr. Trump selected Ms. Stefanik for a key role in his administration, appointing her the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations. Stefanik was one of Trump’s first appointments to the incoming administration after winning the presidential election.
