President-elect Donald Trump announced Tuesday afternoon that he will appoint former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe to lead the CIA in his second administration.
Since winning the 2024 presidential election last Tuesday, President Trump has begun announcing who will be included in his next administration. The former president issued a statement on Truth Social highlighting Ratcliffe’s accomplishments over the past few years, saying he would be a “fearless warrior” for the American people. “From exposing the fake Russian collusion of Clinton’s campaign to exposing the FBI’s civil rights abuses in FISA court, John Ratcliffe has always been a fighter for truth and integrity for the American people. Hunter “When 51 intelligence officials were lying about Biden’s laptop, we had John Ratcliffe telling the truth to the American people,” Trump said.
“I look forward to John becoming the first person to serve in both positions in our nation’s top intelligence agencies,” President Trump’s statement continued. “He will be a fearless fighter defending the constitutional rights of all Americans while ensuring the highest levels of national security and peace through force.”
Ratcliffe’s announcement comes as the former president has appointed Republican Florida congressman Mike Walz as White House national security adviser and appointed former U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director Tom Homan as the new “border czar.” This followed the nomination of New York State Representative to the House of Representatives. Lee Zeldin becomes the new administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency.
