President Trump announced in a post on Truth Social on Saturday night that he will not invite former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo or former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley to join his next Cabinet.
“I have no intention of inviting former Ambassador Nikki Haley or former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to the current Trump administration,” President Trump wrote shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday.
“I have really enjoyed and appreciated working with them over the years, and I would like to thank them for their contributions to our country,” he continued.
The announcement came after an intense social media pressure campaign, particularly against Pompeo, who served as President Trump’s secretary of state from 2018 until the end of his term in 2021. (Related: Trump tells Mike Pompeo to ‘shut up’ about China early in pandemic, new memoir claims)

Pompeo has also criticized Trump numerous times since he left the White House. In 2023, Pompeo said Trump was not a true conservative leader and suggested he could do better as president.
Following the Republican Party’s disappointing showing in the 2022 midterm elections, Pompeo mocked President Trump’s famous “I’m going to get tired of winning” line. line.
We were told we would get tired of winning. But I’m tired of losing.
And so do most Republicans.

Pompeo appeared to attack Trump even after Special Counsel Jack Smith indicted him in the classified documents case in 2023.
Haley was also a vocal critic of the former president, particularly while running against him in the 2024 Republican primary.
Despite serving as ambassador to the United Nations from 2017 to 2018, Haley ran against Trump in the primary, claiming she could not beat Biden. (Related: President Trump’s potential vice presidential rival denies media scoop)
The Daily Caller News Foundation reported that Haley’s failed campaign had attracted numerous supporters from both sides of politics, including Reid Hoffman, a Democratic mega-donor with ties to the Koch brothers and Jeffrey Epstein. It was reportedly supported by the Blishment Group.
Pompeo and Haley’s rejections came as President Trump assured voters that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. would be involved in the presidency “in any capacity he desires.”
